Jump into the dark side!

“Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.”
- Lao Tze

For me, music is passion. It can make or break a game, a movie or a trailer. If the music doesn’t catch you, it’s likely that most people will ignore the content. It’s pretty important. Imagine your project with the sound of thundering trombones, bone-shaking timpanis and mighty string melodies.

I specialise in orchestral scores, epic and mighty, but with a little twist. They are darker than your usual Hollywood Epic Stuff, more complex, more intimate, more serious. I follow that maxime also in other styles such as Dark Ambient, Slow Jazz, 8bit and even Metal.

I’m also able to do more calm and lighter work, of course.

But as a witty saying proves nothing, you gotta listen to my music. Just visit

for plenty of it.

This is a rock/pop Bittune. It's got a nice, catchy melody and is perfectly fit for a retro game. It's got those nice, ocatve jumping bass lines, an SID Arp and SID Percussion, with a nice and strong bass drum and a kinda crushed 8bit snare.

It could be used in a jump and run game, in a space fighting game, possibilitys are nearly endless, as long as it's a retro game and needs background music. Mostly the idea of the classic pitfall comes to my mind. An explorer, thousands of gold coins and treasure and many jumps over giant leaps. And snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?

This track is fully loopable, the preview demonstrates that; it plays the piece twice. Therefore the time is double the time of the piece. If you buy the file, you will get another file, which just loops.

Music - single full track

A strange, mysterious piece of music, which perfectly captures the atmosphere of a Cavern/Underground Level. It even has a slight "Old Hollywood" esprit, tipping the hat to one of the greatest film music composers of all time, Bernard Herrmann. It starts off with two harps, playing corresponding up and downwards arpeggios, but "sans harmonique" (harmonics, overtones). A vibraphone joins in with the motor turned on, so that you really can hear those oldschool vibes (no pun intended). All this reminds me of water, slowly dripping form the ceiling, from myriads of stalactites. Slowly the vibes builds up a melody and the harpes begin to interwine their arpeggios. All while that is happening you hear some celli pizzicati in the background. At 1:16, there's a climax, the melody goes up in ambitus and dynamic and one harp switches to glissandi-like arpeggios. The chords itsself are quite exotic, nothing here sounds "usual" or like "I already heard that a thousand times".

Aside from the obvious cave level, it would also fit some barren scenes quite well, be it an ice or a stone desert, even a eerie swamp setting.

Expanding Spaces

Jazz

Music - single full track

This one is an jazz/ambient hybrid in a very, very slow tempo. It has an spacy flavour to it, it's almost a bit surreal. It features a brush jazz kit, ambient/evolving synthie pads and a rhodes which plays slow, laid back melodies. At the end a live accoustic guitar joins as a melody instrument.

Since the track doesn't change that much it would be perfect as a background music for a space related game that doesn't involve shooting enemys, but focusses more on the wideness of space. Of course this concept could also apply for other, nature-like szenarios. Puzzle/Strategic games are also a good candidate for this. But it could also be used in an Game-Over Sequence, or just as a main menu.

Since it's very long, I can prepare shorter versions or loopable versions of it. If you wish that, contact me.

Ballad

Music - single full track

This is a sentimental piece, evocating feelings of love, hope and peace. It's somewhat medieval in nature and makes use of an irish traverse flute in duett with a bass recorder and an Autoharp. While it is written in minor, it's not depressing, but more comforting and has a warm feeling to it.

Imagine the first rays of light on a lonely forst hill or the return of spring. It could also be used in an romantic scene, as a main character kisses the girl he just rescued. Or simply as a melancholic outro to a game. If used in a puzzle game, it could played in the background in a spring/autuum/nature like scenario. And in an RPG game, it would also fit, if you search something with a medieval touch.

If you need a looping theme or only certain parts of the score, I can arrange that, simply drop me a message.

This is an ethnic inspired piece. It starts off with a soft ney-solo (turkish flute), at 0:22 some Taikos and other percussion join and lay the rhytmic fundament for more aggressive mood. Imagine a long lost jungle tribe marching off to war or a hidden temple, entwined by old, thick roots. At 1:58 there's a focus on a staccato rhythmic pattern featuring orchestral brass, which is even more aggressive, but broken by short ney-solos. At 2.32 there's a return to the first theme, slightly altered.

The theme can be looped and altered, so that only certain parts appear. If you wish such a change, just contact me.

Music - building blocks single-layer

This song is really happy tune, somewhat in the style of the commercials of a big IT-company with a fruity logo. It's nice, cozy and laid-back, but it has also a soft rock style part in it. It features a a ukulele, an acoustic guitar, a piano for melody, some electric guitars, pizz strings and drum set.

Think about sun, a nice autumn day, where the leaves start to change color, but it's still that type of weather that makes you want to go outside. The song is quite child-like in its simple harmony strukture, but it isn't noisy advertising.

It would be perfect for a Sims-like game, for (non-epic) trailers. Obviously puzzle games and peaceful strategy games/eco-sims would also profit from it. The song has different separable parts, which can be obtained by contacting me.

Kaleidoscope

Ambient

Music - single full track

Overall this is a pretty laid back track, optimal for game parts that play in asia, even though it is in no way only usable there. Imagine a cherry tree though a kaleidoscope.

The piece starts off with a celtic harp, a kinda glitchy drumloop and a glockenspiel melody in minor. When a Bass enters at 0:23 it becomes more massive, but is still very laid back. A shakuhachi now picks up the part as main melody instrument. At 2:21 a big kick drum with lot of reverb joins the picture and gives an sinister feel to the track, but that is broken up by the return to the shakuhachi melody.

If you want a loopable version or only certain parts of the track, contact me.

Little Hometown

Easy listening

Music - single full track

That's cutesy little song, ideal for farming games, friendly and mellow RPG-towns, fishing events and everything that needs a calm and cheerful tone! It has a certain humourous feeling to it, since the main instruments used are the Tuba, giving a steady beat, the xylophone with string pizzicato for the offbeats and a Flute, which is assigned to a lovely melody. In the B part of the song, it the change to a minor key evokes rather nostalgic feelings, supported by mellow horns playing simple chords. After that an unusual instruments plays some staccato-chords: The Stroh-Violin. In the C Part the bassoon leads the melody, in an quite high ambitus. After that the piece loops.

A dark, serene and sinister piece, saying: "Something bad is about to happen." It might be the right choice as background music for a dark forest, an evil castle or as a game over music.

It features mostly the Bass Clarinet and an Eb Clarinet, accompanied by a string ensemble. It's got a A-B-A' structure, and ends on a chord. It's also possible to create a loopable version, if needed.

    Race against Time

    Electronic

    Music - single full track

This track is plays a bit with tempo. It starts with a slow intro, which is then constantly accelerated and culminates in a classical 8bit rock song. There's everything: An 8bit rock guitar, fast paced SID drums and a synthie imitating a voice. It's extremely catchy and generally follows a song structure, with an intro, variants of verse and more happy C-part written in major and a memorable refrain.

Since there are (artifical, 8bit) guitars, it's got a certain aggressive flavour, but it is also very melodic and not overly dramating. It's more engaging. I could easily see Top Gun like jet fights or space taxis avoiding asteroids. Everything with a certain drive (jump & runs, horizontal and vertical scrollers) could benefit from it.

If you need a version which features an ending, simply contact me.

If you use this for a freeware game, please contact me, just telling me that you've used it, because I'm interested in that.

    Run for your life

    Music - single full track

Now this is a badass boss battle theme! It features the Commodore C64 SID Chip and has a quite classic approach: You have some mean, stomping bass drum, which keeps a steady pulse in a high tempo. A lead Pulse/Saw voice plays an fast ostinato between C and C# (minor implied), creating a discomforting feeling, as if something big is going down, as if something is hunting the player. Soon a bass voice follows, which in itsself sounds wicked. In the B-part of the song, it calms down a bit, but invokes an threatening feeling and introduces another arp-y synth. Finally some real melody steps in, but the corresponding arp makes sure that it feels "wrong" in a way. After that there's a grand finale, introducing even more chromaticism, while the rhythm stays ridig. Finally, the song begins to loop.

As already hinted, the song would make a great addition to any boss battles, fro slimy alien monsters in a Contra-like game, to the creepy Arch-Demon in an JRPG-style game.

    Scrooping Old Mansion

    3:48

    130 bpm

    Orchestral

    Music - single full track

A quite mysterious piece, featuring mainly woodwinds in orchestral contect and evoking pictures of victorian-era mansions, all with squeaky doors and strange howling winds. After the rather calm polytonal beginning in lydian mode there is a majestic minor brass/percussion hit, which makes it really suitable for cutscenes or in-game scripted events, where the evil antagonist - or his hideout - could be shown. A short interlude follows with harp and violin/flute/bassoon/celesta melody, which makes for a really eerie feeling, since this orchestration isn't that typical. The following theme is repeated two times, firstly with 16th triplets harp arpeggios and swelling woodwinds and strings, secondly in a more trimphant fashion with trumpets and trombones. Once more an interlude follows, which seems perfectly fit to show large evironments such as planets. The B Theme of the piece has a really great forward drive, and is reminescent to magical flying scenes. It features a constant staccato pulse of trombones and the melody is variation of Theme A. The rest of the piece is a variation of this theme, until it merges with all the other themes and slowly fades away.
